Larry C. Tankson, a World Champion and 10th Degree Black Belt (Hanshi), began his martial arts journey in Chicago on September 10, 1969, at the age of 13. He studied various styles, including Goju-Ryu, Shorei-Goju, Shorei Ryu, and Tae Kwon Do, earning multiple black belt ranks. Tankson's competitive success in kata and kumite led him to become the No. 1 ranked junior fighter in the Midwest. He opened his dojo, Tankson Martial Arts Academy Ltd., in 1981, producing top competitors and earning numerous national and international titles throughout his career.
